Whether you are an experienced software developer, practicing epigraphist or smart, interested layperson, EpiDoc wants you. Contact Tom Elliott to volunteer.

Priorities

The EpiDoc community is currently working on a development “road map”. Join the discussion via the Markup List, subject = sprint planning.

Development Tools and Resources

For specific tools and documents, see EpiDoc Resources.

Code repository

The EpiDoc community uses the Concurrent Versioning System (CVS), via sourceforge.net for all its tools and guidelines. See the entry for each EpiDoc resource for more details. Sourceforge provides instructions for accessing the repository.

Releases

The EpiDoc community uses the sourceforge file release mechanism to distribute pre-bundled packages of the tools and guidelines. See the entry for each EpiDoc resource for more details.

Workshops and Sprints

EpiDoc owes much of its progress to the collaborative and community-minded efforts of the active EpiDoc projects and their directors. An on-going series of international workshops and development “sprints” — chiefly organized by Charlotte Roueché and her team at King's College, London — continue to focus and propel the movement.

What is a “sprint?”

A sprint is an event when programmers and content developers meet to do collaborative computer programming and/or content creation. These are sometimes referred to as “hackathons”, “hackfests” or “codefests”. Sprints are intensive events, lasting 2-5 days or so and requiring long hours and limited distractions. Development sprints are not training events; expert knowledge — either in programming or in the problem domain of concern — is required.

Past Workshops

Please see our separate list of previous workshops.

Please note also the public presentations and papers that have been delivered by members of the EpiDoc Community (coming soon).
